Shavua Tov! Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Here is a link to Friday Night’s D’Var Torah: The Power of the Stranger.
On Friday afternoon, we hosted a wonderful Chanukah Tot Shabbat in collaboration with PJ Library. We had a wonderful time playing dreidel, singing songs, practicing lighting the chanukiah and eating latkes. Many thanks to Abby Trachtman at Federation for her help in putting it together!
On Saturday, we discussed Jacob’s mourning of Joseph, including why he could not be comforted, why the brothers didn’t speak to console him and why they didn’t break down and confess, and even (as some rabbis wrote) whether Isaac knew that Joseph was not really dead. What do you think? Here is the source sheet.
Chanukah begins Wednesday on Christmas Day. We are going to enjoy the time-honored Jewish tradition of Kosher Chinese food & a movie, plus some games, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on December 25th. Bring your Chanukiah so we can light our Chanukiyot together! We are bringing in the food from Kosher Tokyo Hibachi in Springfield, NJ, and the cost is $18/member, $36/non-member. RSVP to Irene in the office is required by the 23rd so we know how much food to buy.
Hope to see you next week!
Shavua Tov!
