On Saturday, we discussed why Aaron’s son Eleazar was the one to perform the ritual of the red heifer. Was it because of Aaron’s involvement in the sin of the golden calf? And was that because Aaron needed the purification (and so could not do it himself) or was it a punishment? Was it because it was conducted outside the camp and the High Priest was not permitted to go there? And in future generations, was it meant to be performed by the Deputy High Priest or any priest?
