Shabbat Shalom! Parashat Vayikra

Shabbat Shalom! This week’s Torah Portion is Vayikra, Leviticus 1:1-5:26 – Welcome to the Book of Leviticus! I hope you will join us for Shabbat Services this week! On Friday night we will have a special presentation on antisemitism by Abbey Krain, senior associate regional director at ADL Philadelphia. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m., our Shabbat Services are at 7:15 p.m., and the Presentation is at 8:00 p.m. RSVP required by calling the Bnai Shalom office. We are grateful to Dr. Stanley and Judy Walker for generously sponsoring this evening, as well as our underwriting membership in ADL’s Kulanu program. Our Saturday morning service is at the regular 10:00 a.m. time frame.

Torah Question of the Week:

Do you think an apology is enough or do you think that someone needs to take action or make restitution? In what circumstances is it one or the other? In this week’s Torah portion, we learn about the “Asham” or “Guilt Offering” sacrifice, which requires that the person transgressing make restitution for their error. Think back on one of your errors that affected someone else. Did you make restitution for it? How did you feel once you had done so? And how do you think that made the other person feel?
