Shabbat Shalom and once again L’Shanah Tovah! This week’s Torah Portion is Vayeilech, Deuteronomy 31:1-30. Please join us for Shabbat Services this week: Friday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. It is Shabbat Shuvah, so some of our service will be enhanced with High Holy Days melodies and prayers. I hope you can make it!
Torah Question of the Week:
Do you own a Torah scroll? How about a Tanach (a compilation of the Torah, (the Law), Nevi’im (Prophets), and K’tuvim (Writings)? In this week’s Torah portion, we receive the last mitzvah in our Torah: That each of us must write a Torah Scroll of our own. Many people fulfill this mitzvah by writing a whole scroll, commissioning a scroll or contributing to the writing of a communal Torah scroll at a scribe event like we had at Bnai Shalom a few years ago. Some do this by acquiring printed books of Torah, Tanach and commentaries, discussing them, and even creating their own commentaries. How will you write your own Torah scroll? What is the value in doing so?

I hope to see you at services! Shabbat Shalom!
