Shabbat Shalom! Parashat Sh’mini

Shabbat Shalom! This week’s Torah Portion is Sh’mini, Leviticus 9:1–11:47. I hope you will join us for Shabbat Services this week: Friday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. I hope you will also join us for Shabbat Mincha Services tomorrow, Saturday, April 11, at 4:45 p.m. as we celebrate the Bat Mitzvah of Gabby Bragin (via livestream only on the Bnai Shalom YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@bnaishalomeastonpa9114/streams).

Torah Question of the Week:

Remember the old adage, “You are what you eat”? Does how and what you eat influence how you feel about yourself and the world around you? In this week’s Torah portion, we learn about the laws of kashrut – in particular, the animals we can and cannot eat. Our Torah tells us that this is so we can distinguish between the impure and pure, so that we can be holy because God is holy. (It is not, as some people assume, a way of ensuring cleanliness in ancient times. Ask me if you have questions about that!) Do you eat in a way that enhances your holiness? What do you do to make your food consumption align with your values?
