Shabbat Shalom! Parashat Chukat-Balak

Shabbat Shalom! This week’s Torah Portion is a double portion: Chukat, Numbers 19:1-22:1, and Balak, Numbers 22:2-25:9. I hope you will join us for Shabbat Services this week! Friday night, we will celebrate the confirmation of Sydney Gordesky! Many thanks to the Gordesky family for sponsoring a special Shabbat dinner at 6:00 p.m. The Friday night Shabbat Service will follow at 7:30 p.m. and we will finish with a celebratory oneg. There is no cost for the dinner, but reservations are required. Please call Irene in the office to RSVP.

Torah Question of the Week:

Has someone ever asked you to cut through your yard on the way from one point to another? What was your response? Were you worried about how they would treat your property? In this week’s Torah portion the Israelites ask for permission to pass through two different kingdoms and in both cases they are denied, which results in war and bloodshed. How does it affect the relationship between neighbors and communities when they do or do not allow each other access to their land? What do you do to establish good relations with your neighbors?
