Shabbat Shalom! Parashat B’har-B’chukotai

Shabbat Shalom! This week’s Torah Portion is a double Torah Portion: B’har, Leviticus 25:1-26:2, and B’chukotai, Leviticus 26:3-27:34. I hope you will join us for Shabbat Services this week: Friday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m.

Torah Question of the Week:

Which is a more powerful motivation for you, the carrot or the stick? In the second portion of this week’s double Torah portion, we learn of the many blessings we will experience if we follow God’s laws and the many curses that will befall us if we do not. Parents often must face the challenge of knowing when to promise a reward and when to threaten a punishment. In what circumstances is one more effective than the other?
