Shabbat Shalom and Moadim l’Simcha! Shabbat Chol HaMoed Sukkot

Shabbat Shalom and Moadim l’Simcha! This week’s Torah Portion is Shabbat Chol HaMoed Sukkot, Exodus 33:12-34:26 (from Parashat Ki Tisa). I hope you will join us for Shabbat Services this week: Friday, October 10 (after pizza in the Sukkah!) at 7:30 p.m.

Torah Question of the Week:
What do you need to feel secure? A house? A job? Material things? Family? This Shabbat is Chol HaMoed Sukkot – the Shabbat in the middle of the Festival of Sukkot. We gather in simple huts that have roofs made of plant material such as bamboo or corn stalks. The sukkah is temporary and often feels fragile, with its roof not fully shielding us from the elements. For centuries, our people have had to find security in places other than sturdy walls and physical structures: from each other, from others we trust, from faith and tradition. What can the sukkah teach you about security? How can you bring that into your life?
