Shabbat Shalom! This week’s Torah Portion is B’ha’alot’cha, Numbers 8:1–12:16. I hope you will join us for Shabbat Services this week: Friday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m.
It is Pride Shabbat! Come celebrate the wonderful diversity of our Bnai Shalom community! Because Scout Shabbat is open to the greater community, for security reasons and for accurate Oneg counts, we ask that everyone who is planning to come RSVP, even if you are a “regular”. You can do so by calling the office or by going to https://my.linkpod.site/Pride-Shabbat-Bnai-Shalom. Thank you!
Torah Question of the Week:
Have you ever made or heard someone make a comment that assumes something about another person based on their outside appearance? What happened? In this week’s Torah portion, God punishes Miriam with tzara’at, a skin disease, after she disparages Moses’s Cushite wife. This is one of the main sources of the prohibition against lashon hara, evil speech, based on race. What can you do to ensure that you are not making assumptions based on someone else’s appearance? What can you do to help others do the same?
Want to learn about the Torah portion?
I hope to see you at services! Shabbat Shalom!
