Shabbat Shalom! Parashat B’shalach

Shabbat Shalom! This week’s Torah Portion is B’shalach (Shabbat Shira), Exodus 13:17-17:16. I hope you will join us for Shabbat Services this week: Friday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. This is not only Shabbat Shira, the Shabbat on which the Song of the Sea is read, but also our New Member Shabbat. We are looking forward to celebrating the families who joined Bnai Shalom this fall with a tasty Shabbat dinner before services!

Torah Question of the Week:

When have you saved something for later or “for best” and then found you were unable to use it? When have you bought extra food or clothes on sale or large amounts of craft or hobby supplies, only to not eat the leftovers, outgrow the clothes, or have more unused supplies than you could ever use? In this week’s Torah portion, Moses commands the Israelites not to leave any manna over from one day to the next. Some ignore his instruction and find their manna worm-infested and unable to be eaten the next day. How can we learn to buy or take only what we need or can use, not the full amount we may want? How would our lives be different?
