On Saturday, we discussed the danger of violating Shabbat. The Torah tells is the punishment for profaning Shabbat is death! But the punishment for working on Shabbat is being cut off from the community… which in the wilderness also meant death. Why is Shabbat so important? Were there distinctions between violating Shabbat in public and in private? What about when it looks like someone has violated Shabbat but they haven’t? What do you think?
